We have made it through the month of February and longer days with warmer temperatures are in front of us! Staff and students alike have done a great job being flexible and making it through the month of February. We had an ever changing schedule, semi-unpredictable weather to navigate, and the always present grind of the month of February. Staff and students alike did a great job navigating all of this and we now get to turn the page to the month of March and all the great opportunities this month brings!
Please be aware of a couple of items I included in the newsletter this month. First, I have included some reminders for upcoming activities in the months of March, April, and May that will be here before we know it. Second, I have included some reminders for the Class of 2026. With the second semester well underway, the clock is ticking for application, scholarships, and graduation requirements. Lastly, I have included the link to the list of activities for the month of March. Spring sports kick off this month, so as we get closer to the end of the month there will be a number of activities the Panthers will be taking part in!
Finally, if you have not heard already, I have accepted the 9-12 Secondary Principal position at Waverly High School. It was a very challenging decision for us as a family, but at the end of the day we felt that God was continuing to open up doors for us as a family and we wanted to be faithful to where he was leading us. We will always carry fond memories of Hershey in our hearts and have enjoyed our time here in Panther Nation. We will strive daily to finish out on a positive note and ensure that all is in order for the next principal here at Hershey High School. Thank you once more for your continued support and partnership here at Hershey Public Schools!

| Marzano Educational Framework |
This year we will continue to dive into and focus on strengthening our instruction through the Marzano Instructional Framework. This year we will take time to reflect and work on the importance of having curriculum aligned to standards, having assessments that give students and staff a clear understanding of what they know, and continuing to work on engagement strategies in the classroom. It is our hope and expectation that through our continual work within the Marzano Framework and building a strong curriculum for our students, we can continue to improve the student experience and see students Learn, Grow, and Thrive here at HPS!! |

Panther Cheer Captures Class C2 State Championship!!!! |
The Hershey High School Cheer Team claimed the Class C2 State Championship in Traditional Tumbling and Stunting at the NCA Cheer & Dance State Championships, held at the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island. Competing against top programs from across Nebraska, the Panthers delivered a high-energy, technically sharp performance that secured them the top spot on the podium.
Under the leadership of coaches Andrea Wilson and Missy Thompson, the Panthers showcased their months of dedication, strength, and precision. Their routine highlighted high-level tumbling passes, stunts, and transitions — all executed with confidence and poise on the state stage.
The NCA State Championships bring together cheer programs from across Nebraska, with teams judged on technique, difficulty, execution, synchronization, and overall performance quality. In the Traditional Tumbling and Stunting division, athletes must demonstrate advanced tumbling skills, clean stunt execution, and seamless teamwork.
With their state title secured, the Hershey Cheer team demonstrated what Panther Pride looks like — hard work, teamwork, and excellence on the biggest stage.
Congratulations to the Hershey Panther Cheer team on an outstanding state championship performance! |
Hill Selected to 2026 Shrine Bowl |
The 2026 Nebraska Shrine Bowl rosters were announced yesterday at the Nebraska Shrine Bowl Media Day, and Hershey’s own Rhodee Hill has been selected to represent the Panthers on the South Team — the first Hershey athlete to earn this honor since 1991.
The Nebraska Shrine Bowl is one of the state’s most prestigious high school football honors, showcasing top graduating seniors from across Nebraska. The annual all-star game not only celebrates athletic excellence, but also supports Shriners Children’s, raising awareness and funds for pediatric specialty care.
Hill’s selection places him among the elite players in Nebraska and reflects the dedication, discipline, and leadership he has demonstrated throughout his high school career.
“Hard work pays off. Couldn’t be more proud of you, Rhodee. Go be great!” said Hershey head coach, Chris Stier. “Rhodee represents everything we want our program to stand for — commitment, toughness, and leadership. This honor is well deserved.”
Throughout his time in a Panther uniform, Hill has been a cornerstone of Hershey’s football program. Known for his work ethic and team-first mentality, he has consistently set the standard both on and off the field. His impact extends beyond game nights, serving as a role model in the weight room, the classroom, and the community.
The Nebraska Shrine Bowl brings together the best seniors from across the state to compete one final time at the high school level. Players participate in a week of practices, community outreach, and Shrine hospital awareness events leading up to the game, forming bonds that extend far beyond the field.
For Hershey, Hill’s selection is also a historic milestone. It marks the first time in 35 years that a Panther football player has earned a Shrine Bowl roster spot, underscoring the growth and continued success of the program.
As Hill prepares to represent Hershey on the South Team, the entire Panther community will be cheering him on. Congratulations, Rhodee — way to make Hershey PROUD!!! |

The most important part of any school is the safety and well being of the students and staff! Several items exist within schools to support school safety. These include:
Secured access during the school day. Visitors to school must check-in at the main office after they are allowed access through the office doors. All other doors are to be closed and locked during the course of the school day. Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is established. This provides a consistent student and staff response to potential emergencies. More information about SRP can be found at this LINK.
Minimizing deliveries during the school day. We understand that a parent may wish to deliver food to students for special occasions, and we appreciate this. We discourage this from being a regular occurrence. Minimizing student visits to vehicles during the school day. Students that forget a school-related item in their vehicles may check-in at the main office before they are allowed to visit their vehicles.
We appreciate the important part our students, staff, and families play in keeping our school safe. This year we plan on running eight fire drills, four SRP drills, two tornado drills, and two bus evacuation drills all in an effort to help students and staff be prepared in the event of an emergency.
We believe that we want to continue to prepare our students in the case of an emergency so that we are prepared in the case of a true emergency!
